Jude Bellingham has been the town’s showpiece across Europe since his meteoric rise at Borussia Dortmund before conquering the world at Real Madrid.
But a recent goal drought for the Spanish giants has led to mutterings about the influential midfielder during his Champions League performances.
That has been put to bed, at least for now, after the England star scored with a brilliant second-half solo effort on a critical night for Real Madrid against Atalanta, having barely featured in the races in Europe’s top competition.
His goal ended a 13-game goalless streak in the league dating back to last season, but despite this, his overall goal contributions in the league (22) saw him elevated in status for his young age.
Maybe he’s back in everyone’s good graces for now.
